Gifu Collection - Blades

The Sebastian Conran Gifu Collection is the result of a unique and ongoing collaboration between Sebastian Conran’s London design studio and 14 traditional artisans based in the beautiful, natural surroundings of Gifu, Japan. Whilst working as creative director, we were actively involved in designing a number of products and pieces of furniture for the collection as well as producing CGI still images for brochures and online marketing material. Founded on the centuries old tradition and culture of the Japanese samurai swordsmith, KAI is world-renowned for the quality of their cutting tools. Food and its preparation is one of the many significant wonders of traditional and contemporary Japan; the twin grater, inspired by a form of traditional armour, is designed to meet this need in a modern, practical and hygienic manner. Inspired by a traditional Katana short sword and scabbard, the modern and super-sharp stainless steel scissor blades need protecting much like a sword, especially when traveling in a day-bag 

The Universal Home Scissors combine outstanding blade quality with a contemporary feel and a universal design. Made from premium Japanese stainless steel, the sprung shear-like scissors are ideal for everyday use around the home and have been inclusively designed in order to make them comfortable for all, including those with limited dexterity. The scissors come with a matching safety sheath for protection, and to keep them clean when not in use
